Camping FAQ

Here are some common questions about camping with us. Also be sure to check out the Campground Rules.

1. Are the campsites full hookup?

Yes, all sites are full hook-up (newly redone) including sewer, water and 30/50 amp electric service, with a provided picnic table and fire ring.

2. How big are the campsites?

Sites are approximately 40' W x 60' L. Each campsite is surfaced with packed gravel to the main campground roadways. Each Full Hook-Up site is designed to hold an RV, vehicle and recreational boat trailer.

3. How many vehicles are allowed at a campsite?

We allow only one RV or camping unit per site, as well as one vehicle and a standard size pleasure boat. Extra space for additional vehicles and boats is available in the visitor's parking lot for the appropriate daily fee or by pre-arrangement.

4. Are tents allowed?

No, tents are not allowed. Board of Health Regulations prohibits tents and outside sleeping shelters at this campground. Additionally, sheds, framed canopies, and screened houses are not allowed.

5. Are golf carts allowed?

Yes, golf carts are allowed. Of course, all electric or motorized vehicles must be legally registered and in safe operational condition. Operator(s) of a golf cart, an ATV or scooter must be a minimum of 16 years of age and have in their possession a valid driver's license. Operators must also obey the speed limit and not be under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances.

6. Are campfires permitted?

Yes, campfires are permitted, but they must be contained inside the metal fire rings provided on each site. Campfires must be kept knee high or below, and not left unattended.

Group bonfire rings are available to all registered campers, to meet the needs of larger social gatherings and campground programming. Some fees may apply.

DO NOT BURN Trash or Plastics in your campfires. The smell of burning trash is terribly offensive and potentially toxic to your neighbors.

7. Is firewood available?

Firewood is available to purchase any time during the day when the Camp Host is on duty.

8. Can I use the boat ramp?

Located at river mile 664.5, our private double wide boat ramp provides Ohio River access. All paying guests may have free use of the boat ramp during their stay. The public may also use the boat ramp for a daily or seasonal fee.

9. Are pets allowed?

Pets are allowed as long as the owners follow the rules about pets.

10. Is there Internet access?

Free WiFi is available throughout most of the campground for the use of our guests. WiFi is strongest at our Camp Store, but you may have WiFi on your campsite also.

11. WHERE CAN I GET A FISHING LICENSE?

The Wal-Mart in Corydon sells fishing licenses.

In Leavenworth you can buy fishing licenses at Stephenson's General Store.

12. WHERE CAN I RENT A BOAT?

You can rent canoes, for trips on the Blue River, in nearby Milltown. To rent power boats you can go to Patoka Lake, which is about 30 minutes away.

1. What do you supply?

The cabins are stocked with linens, towels, garbage can liners, dish soap, and an initial supply of toilet paper. In addition, we provide an assortment of kitchen utensils, silverware, dishes, pots and pans, etc.

In addition, the Lake House has a supply of movies to play on the TV with DVD player.

2. What do we need to bring?

Just bring your own food, condiments and drinks, as well as your clothes and personal toiletries.

3. Is housekeeping provided?

The cabin will be clean and tidy upon your arrival, but we do not provide housekeeping during your stay.

4. IS THERE A WASHER AND DRYER?

There is no washer and dryer. However, there is a small laundromat in Leavenworth, which is very close. Marengo and Corydon also have facilities and are close by as well.

5. Are grills provided?

Gas grills are provided.

6. Is firewood provided?

Outdoor fires are permitted only at Lake House. A sufficient amount of firewood is supplied to burn in the fire ring that is provided.

7. HOW CLOSE IS THE NEAREST GROCERY STORE?

Stephenson's General Store in nearby Leavenworth has many grocery items, snacks, treats, and some deli-style food.

Corydon was the first state capital and is still a sizeable city. Corydon has a Jay-C grocery store and a Wal-Mart super store, both about 15 miles away.

8. Are pets allowed?

No pets are allowed at any cabin.

9. Is smoking allowed?

No smoking is allowed inside the cabins or screened areas. Please only smoke outside or in the open part of the porch. Please put your butts in ash trays and do not just pitch them over the rail.

10. Is there telephone service?

No telephone land line is available at any property. Generally cell phones can be used at the Lake House, but cell phone coverage may weak at Horseshoe Bend Cabin.

11. Is there a television?

The lower level of the Lake House has a TV with DVD player. A variety of movies are provided.

Horseshoe Bend Cabin has no television.

12. Is there HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING?

All of our rental homes have central heat and air conditioning and are open April-October.

13. How many people do the cabins sleep?

A maximum of four people can stay in Horseshoe Bend Cabin. It has two bedrooms, each with a queen bed.

A maximum of twelve people can stay in the Lake House. It has three private bedrooms (two with double beds and one with two twin beds), plus a finished walkout basement with six additional twin beds.

14. What if something needs repair during our stay?

All appliances will be fully functional at check-in. If any problems occur during your stay, please inform us - our only goal is for you to have a great stay.

Please report any problems, needed repairs, or inoperable equipment to the main office number at 812-267-3031 or 812-267-3030. We will have repairs made quickly and efficiently. No refunds or rate adjustments will be made for any mechanical failure.

(Remember, no fishing license is needed for guests of the Lake House to fish in the private, stocked lake the house overlooks.)
